Editors' profiles
Robert L. Hendricks PhD
Dr. Hendricks received his PhD degree in Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1978. His thesis work focused on regulation of T lymphocyte function. During his postdoctoral research, he became interested in the immune response to herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and studied the mechanisms of HSV-1 induced immunopathology in the cornea of the eye.
Christian Münz PhD
Christian Münz, born in 1969, was appointed Associate Professor and Head of the Institute of Experimental Immunology at the University of Zürich, Switzerland, in 2008. In addition, he is Member of the Adjunct Faculty at the Rockefeller University in New York, USA, and Visiting Professor at the Imperial College London, UK.
Cecilia Söderberg-Nauclér PhD
Cecilia Söderberg-Nauclér, born 1967 in Uppsala, was appointed Professor of Medical Microbial Pathogenesis at Karolinska Institutet in 2008. She obtained a PhD in Clinical Immunology at Karolinska Institutet in 1994 on immunological aspects of cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections. During her post-doctoral fellowship at the Oregon Health Sciences University, USA, she worked on CMV latency and showed that differentiation of monocytes into macrophages in response to inflammatory cytokines results in reactivation of latent CMV.
